Vision

A common sight in the city of Málaga during the hot summer days, the design of these earrings interpret the the rhythmic design of the abanico hand fan as seen in the streets.

Technique

Vitreous enamel is a glass-like compound coloured using different minerals and elements: eg gold is used in reds and pinks. The design has been created by sifting enamel glass powder over hand-made stencils and fired multiple times in a kiln at around 800°C. Hand-made sterling silver rings are used to connect the individual elements, the rings are soldered. Hand-made sterling silver earring wires are soldered onto the fan. The earrings are cleaned free of oxides caused by the soldering process and finally polished.
