Vision
Standing as a qualitative testament to handmade jewellery, the craft of the plique-à-jour bracelet suspends transparent motifs of Moorish and natural design in an open framework.
Technique
French for ‘letting in daylight’, plique-à-jour is a skill in which enamel powdered glass is ground with water and minute amounts are applied to the cells cut from the metal. The enamels are suspended from the cells within an open framework before being kiln fired. Each cell is then re-filled with transparent enamel and re-fired several times.
