Founded in 2024, Sirocco Studios is an independent platform, publisher and studio, shaped through direct engagement with contemporary projects and practices.

Oscar Dooley’s essay on Mythos by Anita Andromeda

Initiated as a journal series focused on documenting process-led design, craft and fine art, Sirocco Studios has developed into a creative studio able to merge different fields thanks to the variety of knowledge and skills developed in different career paths, namely photography, graphic design and writing.

Alongside the journal, which is distributed across London, the studio platforms material exploration and artistic experimentation, informed by alternative and avant-garde contexts.

Intent

The studio exists as a space for sharing ideas and non-commercial practices, supporting work that resists conventional production and instead values exploration, dialogue, and the act of making itself. Grounded in slowness, tactility, and the value of personal work, the studio prioritises process, embracing experimentation, uncertainty, and the material conditions of making.

Practice

Materiality and craft sit at the core of Sirocco Studios’ practice. The studio is attentive to the physical qualities of making—surface, texture, weight, and process. Through print, object and image, the studio documents how ideas are shaped through their material conditions.

Sirocco Jewellery, the practice of jewellery maker Kay Hammond, emerges from this philosophy. Through playful design and technical precision, the jewellery is handmade from vitreous enamel and sterling silver, using techniques such as plique-à-jour and cloisonné.
