Sirocco Jewellery is designed and created by jeweller and enameller Kay Hammond.
Each piece is meticulously crafted by hand, using only traditional methods (cloisonné, plique-à-jour, stencilling), in her home studio. Working with vitreous enamel - a glass compound – Kay continues an ancient craft (the oldest known pieces of enamel work are Mycenaean). Produced slowly, in limited quantities, there is an enhanced focus on the quality of each product. Each piece asserts uniqueness, unobtainable through mass production. All sterling silver used is recycled.
Kay is a regular visitor to Andalusia. Her work draws on the patterns, colours and rhythms found in Moorish design together with plants of the region. Delivering non-seasonal and genderless pieces, her designs are a part of an ongoing study of perspectives, harmony and reflection.
