Vision
Standing as a qualitative testament to handmade jewellery, the Floral Plique-à-jour Bracelet’s inherent nature defies mass production, ensuring uniqueness in each piece. The craft of the jewellery suspends transparent motifs of Moorish design, geometrics and the natural world in an open framework. The transparent enamel glass allows sunlight to filter through the transparent glass in the same way as a stained glass window.
Technique
French for ‘letting in daylight’, plique-à-jour is a skill in which enamel powdered glass is ground with water and minute amounts are applied to the cells cut from the metal. The enamels are suspended from the cells within an open framework before being kiln fired. Each cell is then re-filled with transparent enamel and re-fired several times.
