In Focus: Conversation with James John Midwinter
Sirocco Studios works across image, design and jewellery, offering a model for cultural discovery and exchange. The studio collaborates with international artists to explore craft across photography, art and writing, bringing together emerging and established voices. Alongside this curational practice, Sirocco Studios produces bespoke, made-to-order handcrafted vitreous enamel and sterling silver jewellery.

Craft & Design

The craft of Sirocco Jewellery is defined by vitreous enamel. This ancient technique is slow, requiring patience, attention and skill. Meticulous control and multiple firings is required to achieve the desired depth of colour. The technique has been historically used in the creation of both fine jewellery and sacred objects; speaking to a commitment of refinement and permanence.

Each piece is designed and crafted in-house by enameller Kay Hammond, using heritage techniques such as plique-à-jour and cloisonné. Each design begins as a sketch and is refined through a process-driven craft of making. Designed for versatility, many pieces are double-sided or reversible.

Journal

An a-period publication focused on analogue processes, Sirocco Journal platforms essays, conversations and visual stories. Working closely with international collaborators, the journal platforms honest dialogue and discovery. As an expansion of the journal, The Arcade is a non-linear and decentralised space with the mission to promote meaningful work in the fields of photography, art and design.

Orders are shipped twice a week. Once shipped, delivery usually takes a few days in the UK, up to two weeks in Europe and up to ten days in the rest of the world.
